i need to write

in whatever language, so i made this tumblr where i'll post short stories, random thoughts, music and pictures. basically the same as here, yes, but mainly in dutch or norwegian. i don't feel i can express myself well enough in english. so, go here:

hello summer, #2

hello world,

i'm back in groningen, finally finished with my exams which means it really is summer holiday now! it's great to be back, with the nice weather and all nice people i haven't seen for almost half a year. i played guitar hero, had some written exams and one oral exam (which i passed with a 8,5!!!!! out of 10, i'm so happy!), went out for dinner at wagamama, had stroopwafel-icecream, went out for dinner at the "pancake boat", went to the park, went out for dinner once more, found a chocolate viking between the sprinkles on my bread and now have some time for myself at a friend's place, which is totally amazing after such busy days :). i'm going to test if it's warm enough to wear my summerdress, out for dinner again! and watch the netherlands playing soccer, of course. i hope your summer is as nice as mine, so far.

ps. EVERYTHING IS SO CHEAP AT HOME! (i buy too much crap, and i love it)

i have an iphone now, and haven't regret it one single second (yet). the 1st. amazing thing is that i'm having this song as my ringtone ♥, who can't fall in love with a thing that is able to do that?! ... my favourite apps so far:

screen 1:
pingchat! (sending free messages to other ping!-users / send me your ping! name), dropbox (to simply put files in a folder which is both on my iphone and macbook), belstatus (to check how many minutes / messages you have left) and wk-2010 (soccer world championships).

screen 2:
kranten (papers from all over the world), ns reisplanner (dutch trains), 9292ov (dutch public transport planner), atm hunter (find the closest cash mashine).

screen 3:
shazam (recognizes songs that are playing), tunewiki (to get the lyrics by the music you're playing, 3voor12 luisterpaal (listening to brand new cd's for free), albert heijn (a dutch supermarket, with the "bonus", recipe's, etc), pathé (dutch cinema - what's playing in which city and when, you can watch trailers and even reservate tickets!), fokke & sukke (daily comics), emoji free (makes it possible to use smileys ;D), whatthefont (take a picture and it tells you what font is used).

screen 4 (games):
tap tap revenge (kind of guitar hero), fling! free (puzzle game with tapping fluffy animals off the edge of the screen), fruited lite (kind of bejeweled but with fruits and quite annoying animals), imbecile test (simply awesome), paper toss (throwing paper into the garbage bin), scoops (collecting ice cream), doodle jump (super cute drawn jumping game).

what are your favourite applications? (and other tips?)

this is no goodbye, letters to "trondheim"

hola! hallo! bonjour! it's weird not seeing you every day anymore, not hearing people talking behind my room door or finding dishes that aren't mine. even though we didn't get to know each other that well, i really liked living with you and definitely felt at home in our flat with the always dirty window and (fucking) fish in the freezer... hope to see you again some day!

hei hei! i'm glad we kept hanging out - maybe not as much as in the beginning, but still from time to time. all the times we had lunch at dragvoll, receiving the lunsj i morgen kl. 12? messages and all the waffles at café m. and your answer on my most recent facebook message made me smile so much :), and your norwegian is amazing.

hallo, or maybe this is more supposed to be a goodbye. i really had fun times hanging out with you, but time changes and people change and i guess we just seperated really fast. which is a pity, in one way, but i guess in the end it's the best for all of us. it was definitely nice meeting you, though!

and you, i'm glad we actually managed to keep hanging out, even though "the group" seperated. i spent both my first and last evening with you, which i think is really nice, and will never ever forget about all the night talks and walks (when it was still light outside). the getting lost and drinking a quick tea, not going inside but keep talking in front of the door, walking another round, and that weird dog haha! i hope to see you soon!

yeonghaseyo onni ㅋㅋㅋ i'm so happy i got to know you!! even though your food and even crisps were way too spicy, and even though you got bird poo on your jacket the very first time we hang out - we survived hell! i guess that's worth mentioning. thanks for giving me a look in your culture, thanks for learning me kkk and yuuuu yuu ㅠㅠ, and thanks for all amazing talks and hugs and walks. hopefully see you soon, and if not i see you next summer! then we definitely have to sing karaoke ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

hallo! hoi! hello! even though not every day was as amazing as it maybe should have been, i still think we really had a lot of fun hanging out together so many days in a row. i love the fact how HUGE our car was, how you guys managed to drive it and how much things we managed to do in all these days. thanks :)

hällö dü, i'm so going to miss your enthusiasm and chocolate and random phone calls and just laughing when picking up the phone cause i knew it was you. you should give me your chocolate mousse recipe (if you want to - if not, just come over and make it for me!) cause that actually might be one of the best desserts i've ever tasted. you better know you're more than welcome to visit and i hope you decide to do that SOON.

.. and basically everyone else i met the last couple of months (i could write about frisbee or free cakes or the basement or something like that, but that takes time - i'm sorry!). never ever hesitate to call when you're in the netherlands - it would be amazing to see you back. not living that close anymore doesn't mean we can't stay in touch, you know ♥ HJERTE

twenty hours on a boat

our boat trip from oslo to kiel was CRAZY, with this huge 16 deck boat incl. swimming pool, lots of restaurants, even more places to watch soccer ;D and a (free) musical - awesome. i even played dance dance revolution!!!!!!!!! much better than expected, but i'll never ever sleep again in a room without a window. especially not on a boat... ugh.

i am home now & i am fine.

oslo, day 2

this morning we walked through slottsparken. destination: city center!

of course a quick stop at the royal palace, mainly to try and make the guards laugh (which is quite easy in norway - london is my new goal). further down at karl johan you find sentences / short poems, and the word ikke always makes me think of a friend that didn't know it means "not" in norwegian. in dutch it's some "children language" for "i" - cute.

barbara told me about this shop where they should have oslo's best kanelbullar. we passed by, and she's definitely right: it was big, tasted really good ánd it had frosting on top! awesome. (united bakeries, karl johans gt. 37-43, and more places!)

and when the clock got closer to 13:30, we walked in the direction of the harbor (since our bed & breakfast host told us they have a huge screen for all the world cup matches). there were denmark supporters everywhere... we went inside though, found a nice place between netherlands supporters ;) and watched the game.

even the danish royal family was there ;D they didn't help that much though, because we / the netherlands won. yessssss

quick stop at the opera, before heading back to our appartment. (we actually walked a lot more than it looks like - and my feet were tired.....)

but never too tired for some yoghurt ice! ever after hjartesmil wrote about this place i couldn't wait and go try myself. i had: chocolate chip cookie and yoghurt ice, with raisins, white chocolate bits, some milk chocolate and sweets on top. so good! (yogurt heaven, tullins gt. 5)

this evening we went for another small walk through frogner.

to end with buying my favourite (norwegian) chocolate + water. tomorrow it's time to leave norway, after more than 5 amazing months..... definitely not looking forward to this, though it will be nice to get home again.

oslo, day 1

first a lot of driving, reading, writing, eating, waiting, sleeping... we drove from trondheim to oslo this morning / afternoon (which is more than 500km). but! driving after more than 5 months again was pretty awesome, especially with such nice views as you have everywhere here in norway.

but after 6-7 hours the oslo "skyline" popped up! niiice.

i fell in love with our bed & breakfast room ♥ we even have a small backyard, and cute things in every corner of the room, and the world map is not a normal one but completely made out of pixels! (i'll make pictures later)

we decided to walk to the vigeland park

the light was amazing!!!!!!! (we couldn't see any sculptures on the way up, though)

it was only a 5 minute walk back to our bed & breakfast, through this super nice area called "frogner" (dutch: hahaha, pap en mam hebben het de hele tijd over "froger", maar daar wil ik deze wijk toch eigenlijk niet mee vergelijken....)

good night!

e6, trondheim - oslo

we've been driving all day, which means i'm in oslo right now. -- i felt quiet weird today. just walked out of my room not realizing anything, even though it's empty. just walked to the reception to drop my key and just crossed the street like i did a million times before. i don't realize a thing, but i'm fine. ready to find out if oslo still is as amazing as i always thought it is :)

trondheim? du er fin

hello world,

i'm ready: ready to leave trondheim. ready to move on. ready for new adventures.
it definitely has been the 5 months i've been dreaming of. with all amazing people from all over the world, the so-called "what's your name where's you from what do you study (why are you in trondheim)"-conversation, frozen hair if i forgot blow-drying it again, the smiling busdrivers angry busdrivers tired busdrivers and the old white busses. with the snow, all hours at vassfjellet, finally really enjoying snowboarding again, sliding down in dødens dal and in the end decide sliding even more down to drink some hot chocolate. with people skating on the streets, drinking coffee wearing "pyjamas" facebooking in class, with ritter sport for 15nok, crappy coffee at sito, trying to find his notes in one of the (thousand) books in the canteen, extremely long talks (because that's more fun than studying, "and for you talking actually ís studying"). with collecting empty beer bottles to get rich, not buying fruits but the 17nok first price chocolate (and first price chocolate chip cookies), with the "red and brown one" at bunnpris, with you at rema 1000 and all the times i went there to just buy something i actually didn't need, to smile at you behind your counter and then you running behind me to ask my number. freezing but still walking around in the city center, always eating pancakes or taco or pasta, your big bed and playing the piano and how you managed to play piano with your toes, chocolatecake for breakfast... with the joy and enthusiasm of exchange students when there was northern lights outside, especially the evening i saw pink and blue and green and purple DANCING in the sky ♥. with my super nice flatmates eating in the kitchen, learning german, talking on skype all night long, singing the cookie song, having dinner around midnight, playing around with glowsticks, .. with the mountains, the nature, the fjord, bakklandet, the tv tower, buran, lian, bymarka, dragvoll and i don't know what more. edit: with playing frisbee and having everyone joining, "just write a message on facebook and you'll have som fun", unexpected grillparties and staying up all night since it doesn't get dark anyway and dancing on the roof top is so much more fun. with all the trips. the waytoomany-h bus to stockholm, being happy to see "old" friends, but longing back to trondheim. a 10-day roadtrip down the west coast, with 5 people i didn't really know. ... a quick train ride to hell, trying to find rock painting (in the snow). with late night walks (and talks), amazing friends, the intern free phone system, facebook facebook facebook, the orange cookies from bunnpris and cheapest strawberries you can find. with playing kubb at marinen, finally go to munkholmen and climb the nidarostower and ...
(there is actually a lot more i could add to this list - and i will do that during the days, maybe)

so, yes: ready to leave all this behind. (and yes, i do doubt every time i write this sentence down) but first ready to spend some 24 more hours with amazing people, in an amazing city, in an amazing country.

+ frappuccino, postcards, folkehøgskole friends, smiling busdrivers, frisbee, kjøleskapspoesi (wrapped ofcourse, as a gift to myself), tea, pancake pie, fresh fruit, skype and a little tiny ieniemienie bit of packing = nice day.

i didn't want to wake up (because sometimes dreams are nicer than real life), wrote a whole page about you and how much i miss you and how everything could have been and actually should have been, looked at (old) pictures that made me smile and cry at the same time. i decided today would be a day for just me, tomorrow for the world again. i finished reading roskilde (it's perfect), wrote it down on my "books everyone should read"-list and dreamt a bit more. i cleaned my desk, threw a whole lot of papers and tickets and tiny notes in the garbage, took some out again, had a break while calling with my parents (only 3 more days! i miss them), planned things for tomorrow so it actually is going to be a nice day. i watched some tv, made dinner and ate it while watching hello goodbye and trying not to cry. iva called, she came over and since she's leaving to sweden tomorrow, we had to say goodbye. i cleaned my small table, read way too nice emails, wrote postcards, ate cookies, talked on skype, and now i'm not sure what to do. but i am sure iva gave me the nicest poster ever.

(it's from the film festival here in trondheim, where i was volunteering this march)

let's go on a pirate ship, across the deep blue sea

hello world,

i finally went to munkholmen! an island in front of the coast of trondheim, only 20 minutes by boat. the weather has been so amazing the last couple of days and it was so great to be outside a whole day again. i wish i had the possibility to go back here in the real summer, cause there are some sand(!)beaches and the water simply was tooooo cold yesterday. i did go in there though! ;D not as far as this czech boy that was with us (sorry, forgot your name...), but my toes felt the water for at least 5 seconds. we had a small bbq, chocolate "with that old man", i wrote some postcards and read in the book i'm currently reading: 'roskilde' by linn strømsborg. it's about the music festival roskilde (in denmark) and reminds me a lot of my experiences at the dutch lowlands festival. it makes me smileeeeee, and i guess you (norwegians) will understand why:

:) - i'm so happy to have more than half of the book left!
and oh, i can't believe i will be in oslo at this time next week. my last week in trondheim is here... time went so! damn! fast!
